Turkey’s exports in 2020 (January-May) were marked by a sharp increase in export volumes. A rich harvest and excellent product quality contributed to the appearance of the following pleasant indicators:

1. Sales of nectarine abroad increased by 49%, which brought about 14 million 897 thousand dollars of profit.
2. Peach exports increased by 44% in the amount of about 10 million 218 thousand dollars.

According to last year’s reports by representatives of the Aegean Fruit Exporters Association, revenues in 2019 in the amount of $ 42 million were provided due to the growth of exports to 45 countries. The current year 2020 pleases with the growth of product quality and the volume of its yield. Compared to last year’s figures, the volume of peach exports from Turkey increased by 36% (from 7,955 tons to 10,807 tons;

Fruits in Turkey are very popular not only among locals and tourists. The traditional first place in the purchase of Turkish fresh vegetables and fruits is occupied by Russia, where 80% of exports were sold for a total of 8 million 200 thousand dollars. In second place is Iraq with exports of $900,000 and Romania with $500,000.

Nectarine exports are also growing at an active pace. Its sales increased by 49%, and the profit from last year’s figures of $ 10 million increased to $ 14 million 897 thousand. Nectarine from Turkey is especially loved in Russia, which is the leader in terms of purchases.

Our goal is $50-60 million!

As the president of the Association of Exporters of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables of the Aegean Sea told the correspondent, there was an active growth in world demand for food products. Wholesale fruits from Turkey have become especially popular during the current crisis caused by the Kovid-19 coronavirus.

According to EIB President Hairettin Play “The quality of our fruits is at the highest level. This year’s harvest of our products is also rich. We are confident that we will come to the end of this year with excellent export performance».

Emphasizing the high yield and quality of the products, Play concluded: “Our goal is not to adhere to narrow directions for the supply of fruits from Turkey to only one particular country. We work on a global level, and plan to sell our fruits and vegetables to all countries of the world. We are actively developing cooperation, which is already bearing fruit. This is evidenced by the growing profit figures. According to our expectations, by the end of this year we will reach the level of 50-60 million dollars in revenue».
