I continue to introduce you to the advantages of wonderful Antalya! This time we will stop in the Kepez district, which is both a district of the province and a district of the city of Antalya.

Moreover, it became part of the city quite recently – only in 1994. But since then, a long way has been traveled from a “working” suburb to a flourishing and quiet residential area with comfortable modern housing.

Of course, the metamorphosis has not yet been completed – the renovation process continues, but now you can see what the largest and most densely populated area of Antalya will be like in the near future. Believe me, you will like this future.

General information about Kepez

When immigrants from the CIS see the phrase “sleeping area”, they imagine broken Soviet “Khrushchev” or “Czechs”, alleys sprinkled with broken bottles and trash sticking out of balconies, where the poorest strata of society live. It’s not about Kepez. Of course, initially it was the outskirts for workers and poor people, but in recent decades everything has changed a lot.

This outskirts was “working” even before the economic boom in Turkey, which made even poor people quite prosperous. With the growth of well-being, people’s requirements for housing also increase, which Kepez very clearly demonstrates.

Including for this reason, Kepez has been actively reconstructed and ennobled for 25 years, building new comfortable houses, residential complexes and entire neighborhoods. Yes, here you can still find on the same street the old housing stock and the new modern one. But the task is not easy – to completely rebuild the largest area of the city. It takes time.

Today, Kepez occupies a vast area in the North of Antalya, going inland from the sea towards the mountains. It seems to cover Antalya in a semicircle from the north, bordering on quite respectable areas such as Konyaalti and Dosemealti. However, “far from the sea” in the realities of Antalya is 9-10 km – such a distance by transport can be covered in 20-30 minutes.

Due to the fact that the area has the shape of an arc, all its parts are approximately equally distant from the center of Antalya and from the sea. The main square of the city is about 10 km away, and the airport is 13 km away. Since this is the most populated area, urban transport is very well developed here, so distances are not a problem, even if you do not have your own car. Not only numerous bus routes pass through the area, but also the main branch of the above-ground metro.

There is both a large state hospital and many polyclinics (including private ones) – there are about 100 of them. There are also a lot of educational institutions, primarily schools and kindergartens – 170.

In the neighborhoods closest to the sea, numerous residential complexes are being built, and more and more often these are low-rise comfortable houses for the middle class. The area is being developed under the renovation program, new roads are being built, trade and social infrastructure is developing. Today, Kepez is a “city within a city” with full self-sufficiency. The only thing that is not there is the sea and beaches, but it takes about 10 minutes to get to them.

Entertainment and leisure

It is very difficult to describe everything that is already there or is still under construction. The area is too vast – 66 microdistricts and more than 500 thousand only the permanent population – in the summer, due to tourists, this figure increases greatly.

There are many shopping malls where goods of world famous brands are available, among which the largest is the Mall of Antalya. It is the largest not only in Antalya, but also on the entire Turkish Mediterranean coast. Özdilek, Erasta, Deepo and other shopping centers compete with it.

In addition, Kepez is the greenest area of the city with high-rise buildings. Numerous parks and squares, of which there are more and more every year, make it very cozy and “homely”. Moreover, they are located evenly, often near the same shopping malls and shops, so that after active shopping there is a place to take a breath in the shade.

Among the attractions of Kepez is a large zoo located right in the middle of a coniferous forest on top of a mountain. It is the largest in Turkey. There is also a huge sports and entertainment complex Varsak (and the park of the same name nearby) with the largest Olympic swimming pool in Antalya (for 1.5 thousand spectators).

Nearby is the “Park of Fairy Tales” – a children’s park, where a life-size village with characters from famous fairy tales is built. Also, of course, the largest in Turkey. There is also Zıp Zıp Park – a children’s trampoline park, which – you will not believe it – is naturally the largest in Turkey. Kepez is very proud of the fact that there is a lot of big and large-scale things here.

Düden Waterfall, around which there is a recreation area with a café and an observation deck, is the main natural attraction of the area. This is a favorite place for family visits and romantic dates.

Kepez Belediyesi kent ormani is another park with a waterfall, which is interesting for the original sculpture of Ataturk in the form of a giant stone head looking at the water falling from a great height. It is one of the largest man-made waterfalls in Turkey.

Nearby there is another recreation park – Kepez Macera Ormani, where there is everything for active leisure of the whole family – horseback riding, paintball court, obstacle courses, climbing wall, various attractions, as well as cafes and restaurants with live music. There are a lot of places for family leisure.

Real estate

Kepez is not what it used to be, but still it cannot be called premium. Residential complexes for the middle class are just beginning to be built here, while the bulk of housing is represented by houses of the “economy” level. However, is it bad if the prices are pleasing? There are both private cottages and apartments in apartment buildings of different heights for every taste and budget.

The area is very diverse and offers many options, both more modest and more expensive. At the same time, you can find very high-quality real estate at a relatively low cost due to its remoteness from the sea. But what prevents you from driving a little to a well-equipped and comfortable beach in the prestigious Konyaalti? Yes, Kepez is chosen by pragmatists who know how to count money.

Inference

The Kepez area is not as luxurious as its neighbors Dosemealti or Konyaalti, but it is also less pretentious. It is simpler and more popular, without pathos and pretentiousness. Nevertheless, new residential complexes and houses of the “comfort” level, plus a developed social infrastructure, make it very convenient for life. It is chosen more often by locals than foreigners, but this situation is changing, as is the area itself under the renovation program.
